Diagnostic study of early childhood education (ECE) in Georgia: review of access, quality and equity issues and related challenges and gaps for strengthening this level of education

The diagnostic study is part of a large-scale education reform project, “Georgia I2Q - Innovation, Inclusion and Quality Project”, funded by the World Bank, in particularly of Component 1- “Improving Quality of and Access to Early Childhood Education: support to facilitate expanded access to quality pre-school education in selected pre-schools.”

The study is implemented by PPMI, the International Step by Step Association (ISSA) and Ilia University. The team will conduct a comprehensive assessment of the Georgian ECEC system and its School Readiness Programme. The study draws on desk research, interviews with stakeholders, ECEC classroom observations, a nationwide survey, and a final focus group.

The study will provide recommendations for the improvement of the ECEC sector in Georgia, in line with the other components and activities of the Georgia I2Q project.
